Will it rain in Kathmandu?

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there was a forecast for rain in Kathmandu from Tuesday afternoon, but it did not happen.

Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane said there is a chance of light to moderate rain in Kathmandu on Wednesday and Thursday. Currently, the sky is fully cloudy, and there may be thunder and lightning with rain in the evening.

He added that the amount of rain depends on how the clouds develop.

Why is it raining?

The current weather is affected by western winds, local winds, and moist air coming from the Bay of Bengal. Because of this, experts have predicted rain, snow, and cloudy weather in many parts of the country.

Senior meteorologist Shanti Kandel said there is a high chance of rain in many parts of Nepal on Chaitra 27 (April 9). Especially, Koshi and Madhesh provinces are likely to get light to moderate rain. Other provinces may get only light rain.

There is also a chance of snowfall in high hills and Himalayan areas.

Lamichhane also said rain is expected today and tomorrow in Koshi, Madhesh, and eastern Terai districts. But starting Friday, rainfall is likely to decrease.

“Today and tomorrow, many places will see rain, but it will weaken from Friday,” he added.
